By appointment only - It is necessary to see a doctor before booking an appointment.
By appointment only.
When you first register with the practice you will be offered an appointment for a medical check-up. This is an excellent opportunity for you to discuss any health problems. The doctors also find it very helpful to meet you and your family before an illness occurs. We would be most grateful if you could spare time for this appointment.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
Please note we are only able to give vaccines that are free of charge through the NHS. If you require vaccine such as Rabies, you will need to contact either:
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Tests and X-rays take varying times to come back to the surgery. Please ask, when having the test done, when the result is likely to be back. Please try to ring for results in the afternoons as this is a less busy time for the receptionists.
All results are seen by the doctors, who mark them with a comment for the receptionist to pass on to you. We are always happy to discuss results with you and will call you back if you wish. Even if you forget to phone we will always contact you with a result that needs some action, nevertheless we like you to be responsible for ensuring the result is back and that it is satisfactory.
